Irish Medical Times has announced that Affidea Diagnostics Ireland’s CT Dose Excellence Programme has been shortlisted in the Best Use of IT category for the Irish Healthcare Awards – the annual ‘Oscars of the health services’.
Affidea’s CT DEP guarantees patient safety, quality and standardisation for CT examinations across 12 European countries. Based on international best practice recommendations, key principles of justification, optimisation and through a multidisciplinary collaborative approach, CT examinations of a high diagnostic image quality are produced at the lowest possible radiation dose for every single clinical indication and diagnosis.
Three Affidea Ireland centres were recently awarded 5 Star status on the EuroSafe Imaging Wall of Stars – among only three Irish hospitals to receive the European Society of Radiology’s highest recognition for best practice in radiation protection, and testament to Affidea’s commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety. Currently, nearly half of the centres awarded 5 stars on the EuroSafe Wall are Affidea centres.
Katia Katsari, Chief Medical Physicist and European Dose Excellence Project Leader, who works closely with Chief Medical Officer, Prof. Rowland Illing, to make this world-class programme possible, said; “At Affidea, patient safety is at the centre of everything we do. We use modern medical equipment, that undergoes regular maintenance, replacement or upgrade according to strict company standards. Our equipment is subjected to thorough quality controls by medical specialists to comply with European standards and our own radiation protection policy. Our medical professionals have received rigorous training in setting the balance between lower radiation dose and optimal image quality. Well done team!”
Carol Tutty, Quality and Accreditation Manager, added; “Affidea is honoured to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. To be selected by fellow professionals who believe our innovation is worthy of special recognition is a privilege and, most importantly, for the patient this means delivery of better quality care.”
