Affidea Ireland at the Irish Institute of Radiography & Radiation Therapy Annual Conference

Affidea Ireland was proud once again to sponsor this year’s Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy Annual Conference.

The IIRRT is the professional body that represents radiographers and radiation therapists of all levels; on local, national and international professional matters. The IIRRT plays a critical role in providing help and support to radiographers and radiation therapists, and their clinical departments to develop their roles and services into areas of current and future importance; leading to improved standards of care and management of patients.

Building on last year’s success, the 2018 Annual Conference took place in the Galmont Hotel in Galway on Saturday, 10th November, with both national and international speakers. Following IIRRT President Catherine McKenna’s welcome address, Jack Kavanagh gave an inspirational keynote speech to the 220 delegates in attendance.

Marie Buckley from Affidea HR said; “It was great to connect with experts in the field and everyone was particularly interested in learning more about the latest technological developments at Affidea, including our CT Dose Excellence Programme, which was recently shortlisted for the Irish Healthcare Awards.

Three Affidea Ireland centres were recently awarded 5 Star status on the EuroSafe Imaging Wall of Stars – among only three Irish hospitals to receive the European Society of Radiology’s highest recognition for best practice in radiation protection, and testament to Affidea’s commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety. Currently, half of the centres awarded 5 stars on the EuroSafe Wall are Affidea centres.

“As we are continuing to grow our team, it was also a fantastic forum to discuss our opportunities for radiographers across our network of clinics, including our recently launched Graduate Radiographer Programme, offering newly qualified grads an accelerated pathway through all of our modalities – from x-ray, MRI and CT – using our latest technology as we operate the youngest and most modern fleet of MRI facilities, particularly within the Dublin region.”
