Bon voyage party for Relentless crew before Affidea sponsored Atlantic Challenge

Relentless, a team of four Irish rowers who will race across the Atlantic Ocean competing in the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge, are hosting a going away party on Friday, 24th November, at the Sextant Bar, Alberts Quay, Cork. This is the last chance to meet the team before they set-off on the 5,500-kilometre rowing challenge, and also make a donation to Cork University Hospital Children’s Unit.

The team – sponsored by Affidea Ireland, a leading independent provider of diagnostic imaging services including MRI, CT, Ultrasound, DXA and X-ray – has raised up to €12,500 to date and are targeting €20,000. All proceeds go directly to CUH’s Children’s Unit.

The rowers Seán Underwood, Eoin O’Farrell, Patrick O’Connor and Thomas Browne fly out to La Gomera in the Canary Islands on November 29 where they will be reunited with their race boat, Saoirse, to make final preparations. On December 12, the Relentless crew will begin their race journey from Sebastien La Gomera.

Tom Finn, CEO of Affidea Ireland and title sponsor for the Relentless crew, said: “Affidea is delighted to sponsor this amazing team of Irish rowers. It is great to see the medical community working together and embarking on this great adventure. We look forward to joining the team at their going away party and encourage people to join us for this unique celebration.”

Skipper of the Relentless crew, Seán Underwood, said: “We would like to thank everyone for their support to date and the many donations to the CUH children’s unit. Hopefully, we can make some of the children in the unit have a brighter Christmas with these vital funds. We would also like to thank Affidea for their continued support in the lead up to this event, it is great to have such a sports enthusiastic sponsor on-board.”
