CHLOE WATKINS: MY EXPERIENCE WITH EXPRESSCARE
We caught up with Chloe Watkins, Irish Hockey Player & Olympic Silver Medallist, to talk about her experience at the Affidea ExpressCare clinic in Northwood. Chloe also highlights why ExpressCare is such a valuable service for athletes.
Was this your first time visiting ExpressCare?
Yes, this was my first time visiting an Affidea ExpressCare clinic. They have a great walk-in service for any minor injuries or illnesses you may have. A nice smooth pathway to see the doctors and nurses, saving hours of waiting time in a busy emergency department hospital setting.
What aspects of ExpressCare stood out for you?
I had a very positive experience from the moment I walked in the door. I was met by extremely friendly and helpful staff at reception. This was a common trend with all the staff throughout my visit, and this really makes all the difference. I was seen to very quickly; the doctors and nurses were courteous and reassuring and they went out of their way to make sure I was always comfortable. Overall, I was in-and-out within the hour which means that this service is ideal for athletes competing at all levels.
How important are diagnostic scans for athletes?
As an athlete, MRI and X-ray scans play an integral role in diagnosing injuries. Time is of the essence for an athlete especially during the competition season, when it is integral to be able to train and compete at a high standard. Having these diagnostic tools available in the ExpressCare clinic here in Santry can significantly help in terms of reducing time-out due to injury.
