By Car
OPTION 1: From the M7 via Exit 17 (Portlaoise South / Abbeyleix / Cork)
1. Take Exit 17 from the M7
- Follow signs for Portlaoise South / Abbeyleix / Cork (N77).
2. At the roundabout, take the exit for Portlaoise
- This puts you onto the Abbeyleix Road (N77) heading towards Portlaoise.
3. Continue straight for 3–4 minutes
- You will pass residential areas as you approach the edge of town.
4. Look for Parkside Shopping Centre on your left
- Parkside Shopping Centre (where Affidea is located) will appear on the left‑hand side.
5. Turn left into the shopping centre
- Enter the main car park.
OPTION 2: Travelling From the N80 Direction (Carlow / Stradbally / Mountmellick / Tullamore)
1. Approach Portlaoise on the N80
- Continue straight into Portlaoise until you reach the Portlaoise Ring Road.
- You will see signage for different town exits — stay alert for Abbeyleix / Cork (N77).
2. Follow signs for Abbeyleix / Cork (N77)
Once you reach the ring road:
If coming from the Tullamore / Mountmellick side
- At the Ring Road roundabouts, follow the signs for N77 Abbeyleix / Cork.
- You will be directed left or straight through depending on which roundabout you reach.
If coming from the Carlow / Stradbally side
- At the Ring Road, keep following directions for Portlaoise Town Centre first.
- You will then see signs directing you to Abbeyleix / Cork (N77).
- Follow these signs — they will take you onto the Abbeyleix Road.

Turn onto the Abbeyleix Road (N77)
- Stay on the Abbeyleix Road.
- You will soon see Parkside Shopping Centre ahead on the left‑hand side.
Enter the main car park on the ground floor.
By Bus
1. Regional Buses Serving Portlaoise
Several regional bus routes serve Portlaoise, often stopping close to or along the Abbeyleix Road (N77).
2. Getting to Affidea from the bus stop
Depending on the route, buses may stop at or near:
- Abbeyleix Road (N77)
- Portlaoise town centre (5–10 min walk to Abbeyleix Road)
Once you are on the Abbeyleix Road:
- Walk towards Parkside Shopping Centre (visible from the road).
- The clinic is on the 1st floor, accessible by the lift beside the car park entrance.
By Train
Portlaoise Train Station is one of the busiest on the Dublin–Cork/Limerick line, with frequent daily services in both directions.
From the train station to Affidea Portlaoise:
- By Taxi
- Taxis are usually available outside the station.
- Journey time: approx. 5 minutes.
- Direct drop-off at Parkside Shopping Centre.
- On Foot
- Approx. 20–25 minutes walking time.
- Walk toward Portlaoise town centre, then continue onto Abbeyleix Road (N77).
- Parkside Shopping Centre will be on your left.
Parking & Access (All Routes)
Ground‑Floor Parking
- Parking is available on the ground floor, at the same level as SuperValu. Parking at Parkside Shopping Centre is free for up to 3 hours.
Lift Beside the Car Park Entrance
- The lift is located directly beside the car park doors.
- Go to the 1st Floor.
Finding Affidea
- When you exit the lift, Affidea Portlaoise is directly across the outdoor concourse, about a 2-3 minute walk.
Taxi guidance for public transport users
If walking is not convenient:
- Taxis are widely available in Portlaoise.
- A taxi from either the train station or central bus stop is usually 5 minutes.
- Ask the driver for:
“Parkside Shopping Centre on Abbeyleix Road – the Affidea clinic.”
Accesibility Notes
- The lift beside the car park entrance provides easy access from ground level to the 1st floor where the clinic is situated.
- After exiting the lift, you will cross an outdoor concourse to reach the clinic. This is a flat, accessible walkway and takes around 2–3 minutes
