Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Ireland and affects a broad range of people.
Whether you have a history of heart disease in the family, are an athlete training hard for your next personal best or a busy executive in a stressful job, or have worries about your overall health, then getting a heart health check will help you understand your own risk factors and allow you to take preventative action where necessary.
Echocardiogram
Assesses how effectively the heart pumps and valves work.
ECG
Measures the heart’s electrical activity, identifying issues like irregular rhythms and blockages.
Lipoprotein (a) Test
Checks for a genetic marker linked to a higher risk of heart disease, heart attack and stroke that routine cholesterol tests do not show.
Blood Tests
Identifies a broad range of risk factors for heart disease and heart function.

During your appointment:
• One of our nurses will gather information from you about your overall health and family health history.• One of our doctors will take a blood sample for testing.
• A consultant Electrophysiologist will perform the ECG and Echo tests.
Following your appointment:
• A consultant cardiologist will review your health information and the test results.• You will receive a report, written by the consultant cardiologist, providing a thorough assessment of your current heart health and relevant risk factors, and making recommendations where appropriate on actions to improve your risk profile.
Our heart health check is suitable for people wanting to understand their health status and risks. No referral is required.
The service is not suitable for patients who have a previous diagnosis of a heart condition, feel unwell or who have active symptoms. These patients should instead see their general practitioner or seek a face to face referral with a cardiologist for assessment.
