Affidea Ireland are delighted to announce the launch of a new MRI service in Limerick in partnership with UPMC Ireland. This service will be operated from the recently opened UPMC Sports Medicine Clinic at TUS, Moylish. We are thrilled to now have a presence in this part of the country and we look forward to providing this service to patients in the greater Limerick area. GPs, Physiotherapists and Consultants can refer their patients for MRIs in the clinic. The local GPs will be able to refer patients under the HSE GP Direct Access scheme which is a great initiative for those who may have been waiting a long time for access to scans.
Barry Downes, CEO of Affidea Ireland, says: “We are delighted to expand our facilities to the west region of Ireland and provide this essential service to the people of Limerick and surrounding counties. We have seen the tremendous success of the GP Direct Access program where GPs now have access to imaging in a primary care environment. Now Affidea can help provide this service to a wider community. The impact of this program cannot be underestimated – by granting GPs direct access to imaging, there is an immediate reduction on the requirement for hospital OPD appointments and subsequent requests for imaging in hospitals”.
